This essential training of youth for leadership in life is being successfully accomplished through the Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK) – the Global Youth Wing of Chinmaya Mission.

 

The Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK) came into being in May 1975 as an offshoot of the week-long teenagers' camp organised by Chinmaya Mission, Bangalore during a Geeta Gnana Yagna session there. The sixty youngsters between the age group of 17 to 25 years, who had participated in the camp and evinced a keen interest in our spiritual culture, formed the nucleus. Chinmaya Mission Bangalore which was already running successfully some teenagers' 'Study Groups' consolidated the position and placed it on a firm foundation. This new venture into the delicate world of the volatile youth is the outcome of the sustained interest shown by a small number of inspired youngsters towards “Vedanta” as a Science of Personality Development and Human Potential and pioneered, interpreted and elucidated by Poojya Gurudev, Swami Chinmayananda.
